Dental Implants in Faisalabad: Replace Multiple Missing Teeth

When several teeth are missing on the same side, the arithmetic patients do in their head is usually the same one: implants sound right, but surely four gaps means four implants, and that puts it out of reach. It is worth knowing early that this is not how multiple teeth are usually replaced. Dental implants in Faisalabad can carry a bridge, so a smaller number of implants supports a larger number of teeth. What decides the plan is not the number of gaps but where they sit and how much bone is left.

What a dental implant is

A dental implant is a small titanium screw placed into the jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root. Bone grows against its surface over a few months, and once it is stable, a crown or bridge is fixed on top. Replacing the root is what makes an implant feel and function differently from a denture.

You can read more on our dental implants page.

You usually need fewer implants than you have gaps

This is the part that changes the conversation.

Two implants can support a three-unit bridge, with the middle tooth suspended between them. Four to six implants can carry a full arch. The implants are the foundations; the teeth on top do not each need their own.

The evidence behind this is solid. A meta-analysis of three-unit fixed bridges on two implants reported survival around 96% per year, essentially the same as conventional bridges supported by natural teeth. Reviews of implants carrying splinted multi-unit prostheses found no significant difference in implant success compared with single-tooth implants, over both short and long follow-up.

Your dentist may also consider joining an implant to a natural tooth as a combined support. A systematic review reported five-year survival of 77% to 84% and ten-year survival of 72% to 77% for tooth-implant supported bridges, found no statistically significant difference in prosthesis failure compared with implant-only bridges, and noted less marginal bone loss around them, concluding it is a viable option where indicated (systematic review and meta-analysis, PMC).

Reviews do advise caution with cantilever designs and with unsplinted multi-unit work, so the layout is a clinical decision rather than a preference.

The options for several missing teeth

  • Implant-supported bridge: two or more implants carrying three or more teeth, fixed in place, the usual answer for a run of adjacent gaps
  • Individual implants: one per tooth, used where gaps are separated by healthy teeth
  • Implant-retained overdenture: a removable denture clipping onto implants, far more stable than a conventional one and less costly than a full fixed arch
  • Full-arch fixed bridge: four to six implants carrying a complete arch, for patients missing most or all teeth in a jaw
  • Conventional bridge: supported by the teeth either side, which means preparing those teeth, and worth comparing honestly
  • Partial denture: removable and least expensive, a reasonable interim while bone heals

Our post on dentures in Karachi covers the removable options, and dental implants in Karachi covers implants used to stabilise a loose denture.

Bone is the real gatekeeper

Jawbone shrinks where teeth have been missing, and it shrinks fastest in the first year. That is why "how long ago did you lose them" is one of the first questions asked.

Where bone is insufficient, options include:

  • Bone grafting to rebuild width or height before implants are placed
  • A sinus lift in the upper back jaw, where the sinus has dropped into the space
  • Shorter or narrower implants, where the anatomy allows
  • Angled placement, used in full-arch techniques to reach better bone
  • Choosing an overdenture instead, where extensive grafting is not wanted

Grafting adds months and cost, and your dentist should say plainly whether it is necessary or optional. Our guide to bone grafting explains what it involves.

Who implants suit, and who they do not

Implants are usually appropriate if:

  • Your gums are healthy, or gum disease has been treated and is stable
  • There is enough bone, or grafting can create it
  • You are in reasonable general health and healing normally
  • You can commit to a treatment measured in months, not weeks
  • You will keep up daily cleaning and regular checkups

They are a poor choice, or need conditions met first, when:

  • Gum disease is active; the same bacteria attack bone around implants
  • You smoke heavily, which markedly raises the risk of failure
  • Diabetes is poorly controlled, delaying healing
  • You grind heavily and will not wear a night guard
  • You are still growing, since the jaw is not finished
  • Certain bone medications or recent radiotherapy to the jaw are involved, which your dentist will ask about

A clean mouth before treatment matters more than most patients expect. A scaling appointment is often the first step; our post on scaling and polishing in Faisalabad covers it.

What to expect at DentoCorrect

  1. Assessment. Examination of the gums, remaining teeth, and bite, with X-rays and a CBCT scan where needed to measure bone.
  2. Plan. How many implants, where, what they will carry, and the realistic timeline and total cost.
  3. Preparation. Gum treatment, extractions, or grafting completed first where required.
  4. Placement. The implants are placed under local anesthesia in a procedure most patients find comfortable.
  5. Healing. Usually three to six months while bone integrates, often with a temporary bridge or denture meanwhile.
  6. Restoration. Impressions or a scan, then the bridge is made, tried in, and fitted.
  7. Review and maintenance. Regular checks of the gums and bone around each implant.

Caring for implants afterward

  • Brush twice daily and clean under the bridge with interdental brushes or a water flosser
  • Attend maintenance visits; implants need monitoring like natural teeth
  • Stop smoking, the single biggest modifiable risk to implant survival
  • Wear a night guard if you grind
  • Report any bleeding, soreness, or looseness promptly

Implants do not decay, but the gum and bone around them can become inflamed and recede, a condition called peri-implantitis. Caught early it is manageable; left alone it costs the implant. Our post on implant discomfort covers what is normal and what is not.

Implant cost in Faisalabad

The cost depends on:

  • How many implants are placed, which is usually fewer than the number of teeth replaced
  • Whether a bridge, individual crowns, or a full arch sits on top
  • The implant system used, since Korean, German, and Swiss brands differ considerably
  • Whether grafting or a sinus lift is needed first
  • Scans, temporary teeth, and review visits

For context, published prices across Pakistan in 2026 commonly run from around PKR 90,000 to PKR 250,000 per implant including the crown, with full-arch solutions quoted far higher. Faisalabad generally sits below the rates seen in Lahore and Karachi.

Because a bridge spreads across fewer implants, the cost of replacing three or four teeth is usually well below the per-tooth figure multiplied out. Ask for a written plan stating the number of implants, the brand, what the crowns or bridge are made of, and whether grafting is included.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need one implant for every missing tooth?

Usually not. Two implants can carry a three-unit bridge, and four to six can carry a full arch. Research on three-unit implant bridges reports survival around 96% per year, comparable to conventional bridges. Your dentist decides the number from the bone and the span, not the gap count.

How long does the whole treatment take?

Typically three to six months from placement to the final bridge, because bone needs time to integrate with the implants. Grafting adds several months before that. Temporary teeth are usually provided throughout, so you are not left with visible gaps.

Is implant surgery painful?

Placement is carried out under local anesthesia and most patients report it as more comfortable than they expected, often easier than an extraction. Soreness and swelling for a few days afterward are normal and respond to ordinary painkillers. Your dentist will explain what to expect.

What if I have lost bone where the teeth were?

That is common, since jawbone shrinks after teeth are lost. Bone grafting or a sinus lift can rebuild the site, and shorter or angled implants sometimes avoid the need. A scan measures exactly what is there before anything is promised.

Can I have implants if I smoke?

You can, but smoking substantially raises the risk of failure and of gum problems around the implants afterward. Most dentists will ask you to stop, at minimum around surgery and healing. It is worth an honest conversation rather than leaving it unsaid.

How long do implants last?

Well-placed implants in healthy gums commonly last many years, and long-term studies report high survival. Longevity depends more on gum health, smoking, grinding, and maintenance visits than on the brand. The crown or bridge on top may need replacing before the implant does.
