Denture Treatment in Pakistan

Missing teeth affect more than your smile – they change how you eat, speak, and carry yourself. Dentures and partial dentures restore all of that: your ability to chew comfortably, speak clearly, and smile with confidence.

What Are Dentures?

Dentures are removable prosthetic appliances that replace missing natural teeth and the surrounding gum tissue. They are custom-made to fit the shape of your mouth, support your facial structure, and restore chewing and speaking function. Modern artificial teeth are crafted from materials that closely replicate the appearance of natural teeth and gum tissue – making them virtually indistinguishable from a natural smile.

Dentures are classified into two main categories based on whether all or only some teeth are missing: complete and partial dentures. Within each category, design options exist to suit different clinical needs, lifestyles, and budgets.

Types of Dentures

Complete Dentures

Complete dentures replace all teeth in the upper jaw, lower jaw, or both. They rest directly on the gums and are held in place by the natural suction of the soft tissue and, in some cases, denture adhesive.
This complete set of artificial teeth restore full smile appearance, speech clarity, chewing ability, and facial support preventing the sunken appearance caused by tooth and bone loss.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain in the mouth. They fill the gaps between existing teeth, restore chewing function, prevent adjacent teeth from drifting out of position, and maintain the facial profile. Available in two main configurations:

  • Acrylic: Made from acrylic resin with metal clasps that attach to remaining natural teeth.
  • Cast Metal (Cobalt-Chromium): Fabricated on a precision-cast metal framework. Stronger, thinner, and more durable than acrylic.

Flexible Dentures (Soft-Base)

Flexible dentures are fabricated from thermoplastic nylon polymer – a softer, more pliable material than traditional acrylic. They adapt to the natural contours of the mouth, reducing pressure points on gum tissue.  Flexible artificial teeth are most commonly used as partial set of teeth. They are more expensive than acrylic and require specialist repair if broken.

Implant-Supported Dentures

For patients who have experienced significant bone resorption or who find conventional dentures unstable, implant-supported set of teeth provide a superior solution. Two sub-types:

  • Implant-Retained (Snap-On): A removable denture that clips onto 2–4 dental implants using locator attachments.
  • All-on-X Fixed: A full arch of teeth permanently fixed to a series of 4–6 strategically placed implants.

The DentoCorrect Denture Treatment Process

Every denture at DentoCorrect is fabricated following a precise, multi-step clinical protocol designed for accuracy, comfort, and long-term fit. The process typically spans 3–6 appointments over 3–8 weeks, depending on the denture type and any preparatory treatment required.

Your dentist performs a detailed examination of your gum tissue, remaining teeth, bite alignment, and jaw anatomy. Digital X-rays are taken to evaluate bone density and the underlying ridge shape – both critical inputs for selecting the correct denture type and ensuring long-term stability.

Comprehensive Oral Examination & X-Ray

Accurate impressions of the upper and lower jaw are taken to capture the precise contours of your gum tissue and any remaining teeth. Primary impressions establish the overall form; secondary (final) impressions capture fine detail. Accurate impressions are the most critical factor in denture fit – too loose and it rocks; too tight and it causes sore spots.

Impressions (Primary & Secondary)

The correct vertical dimension of your bite (jaw height) is recorded. Tooth shade, shape, and size are selected to match your natural appearance and facial proportions. Your input on aesthetics is taken at this stage – the final denture will match what you approve.

Bite Registration & Tooth Selection

A wax model of the final denture with the selected teeth is fabricated and placed in your mouth. You evaluate fit, appearance, speech, and bite comfort before any final materials are committed. Adjustments are made at this stage – not after the final denture is processed. This step is not skipped at DentoCorrect.

Wax Trial (Try-In Appointment)

The completed denture is placed and assessed for fit, occlusion (bite balance), aesthetics, and retention. Minor chairside adjustments are made immediately. You receive detailed care and cleaning instructions at this appointment.

Final Denture Delivery & Fit Check

Follow up appointments are scheduled at 1 week and 4 weeks. Initial soreness and minor speech adjustments are normal and expected during the adaptation period (typically 2–4 weeks). Sore spots are relieved, and bite balance is refined as needed. Long-term relining may be required as your jaw ridge reshapes over time.

Caring for Your Dentures

Proper daily care of your artificial teeth extends their lifespan, protects your gum tissue, and maintains oral hygiene. Your DentoCorrect prosthodontist will provide specific aftercare instructions at delivery. The following are general best-practice guidelines:

Daily Cleaning

Overnight Storage

Handling & Maintenance

  • Handle with care – hold over a folded towel or basin of water when cleaning to cushion accidental drops
  • Avoid hard, sticky, or very chewy foods during the adaptation period (first 4–6 weeks)
  • Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments – bone and gum changes over time require periodic relining or adjustments for continued accurate fit
  • Contact your DentoCorrect clinic immediately if the denture cracks, breaks, or becomes noticeably loose – do not attempt self-repair with household adhesives

FAQs

Denture costs in Pakistan vary widely by type and material. Acrylic typically range from PKR 50,000–120,000 per arch, flexible set of teeth's from PKR 70,000–150,000 depending on teeth count, and cast metal partial dentures from PKR 60,000–90,000 per arch. Implant-supported options cost significantly more. At DentoCorrect, exact pricing is confirmed in a written treatment plan before any procedure begins. See our pricing table above for indicative costs at DentoCorrect clinics.

Conventional complete set of teeth's typically take 4–8 weeks across 4–5 appointments: initial consultation, impressions, bite registration, wax trial, and final fitting. Partial dentures follow a similar timeline. Immediate dentures can be placed the same day as extractions but require relining within 3–4 months. At DentoCorrect, your treatment timeline is explained clearly at your first appointment.

The fitting process itself is not painful. After receiving new set, most patients experience initial soreness, minor speech changes, and increased saliva production during an adaptation period of 2–4 weeks. This is normal and temporary. Follow-up appointments allow adjustment of pressure points. Contact DentoCorrect clinic if soreness persists beyond the adaptation period.

Complete set of teeth's replace all teeth in an arch - upper, lower, or both - when no natural teeth remain. Partial sets replace one or more missing teeth when healthy natural teeth still remain. Partial dentures attach to remaining teeth for support. The right option depends on how many teeth are missing, which your DentoCorrect prosthodontist determines at your examination.

Well-maintained acrylic and cast metal typically last 5–10 years before replacement is needed. Flexible artificial teeth last approximately 5–7 years. Over time, the jawbone naturally changes shape (bone resorption), causing the fit to loosen - requiring relining or replacement. Proper daily care, regular check-ups, and prompt relining when fit becomes loose significantly extends denture lifespan.
